YEMEN / SAUDI ARABIA
- Reuters reported Trump administration officials met Houthi representatives secretly at the US embassy in Muscat over the weekend. The Houthis pledged not to attack US or Israeli vessels and said they remain committed to the 2025 ceasefire with Washington. The US has declined to join Saudi strikes in Yemen.
- Saudi Arabia is running low on missile interceptors and has asked France, the UK, Pakistan and Egypt for air-defence support, after US stockpiles were depleted in the Iran war.
- Debris from an intercepted Houthi drone over Taif killed one and injured two, the first death in the kingdom this month.
IRAN
- Trump said the US is “hopefully” near the end of the war and that Tehran had contacted Washington directly about a deal, without details.
- The US approved visas for senior Iranian officials to attend the UN high-level meeting.
- Trump is expected to meet Gulf leaders on the UNGA sidelines next Tuesday on postwar strategy. Netanyahu has sought a meeting; none scheduled.
- A UN fact-finding mission found Iranian authorities committed crimes against humanity in the protest crackdown.
LEBANON
- European and Arab military chiefs met in Paris to assess Lebanese Armed Forces requirements and the winding down of UNIFIL, amid fears of a renewed Israeli campaign in the south. Chaired by Macron, Aoun and King Abdullah, with a senior US military official attending.
UKRAINE–RUSSIA
- Zelensky said a joint SBU/SBS/HUR/SZR operation struck the Yaroslavl oil refinery, an An-12, two An-26s and three helicopters at Rostov.
- Russian missiles hit the Zaporizhstal steel works for the fourth time in a month. Overnight strikes on Kyiv injured at least 20.
